NAMI Hillsborough is the Hillsborough County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Our Mission
Our goal is to enhance the lives of those living with mental illness as well as their family and loved ones through support, education and advocacy.
How?
We Educate. Our education programs ensure that families, individuals, and educators get the support and information they need.
We Advocate. Helps to shape local and national public policy for people with mental illness and their families. We provide volunteer leaders with the tools, resources, and skills necessary to save mental health in Hillsborough County.
We Listen. NAMI’s toll-free NAMI HelpLine allows us to respond personally to those in need by providing free referral, information and support—a much-needed lifeline for many.
We Lead. Public awareness events and activities, including Mental Illness Awareness Week and our 2018 Walk Run, successfully fight stigma and encourage understanding. NAMI works with the public on a daily basis to make sure our county understands how important mental health is.
Why?
We have found strength in our journey, and hope that we can help you find strength in yours. Our Board of Directors, volunteers, and our members have been personally affected by mental health. We are here to help others, like we were helped – Peer-based Recovery is grounded in the approach that “we know what it is like, and we have been there.” Our services are all led by a person that has been affected by mental health in their lifetime
