NAMI HILLSBOROUGH RECEIVES $20,000 FROM SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION

Tampa, Fla. (December 30, 2020) – NAMI Hillsborough is pleased to announce a generous $20,000 donation from Suncoast Credit Union to support local COVID-19 response efforts in our community.

NAMI Hillsborough will use the funds to increase organizational capacity to meet the demand for programs due to the pandemic.  They will also increase signature offerings such as the NAMI Peer-to-Peer eight-session course for adults experiencing mental health challenges and the NAMI Basics 6-session course for parents, caregivers and other family who provide care for youth (ages 22 and younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms.

“We are grateful that Suncoast Credit Union recognizes our efforts to support Hillsborough County residents struggling with the effects of the pandemic,” said Natasha A. Pierre, Executive Director.  “With their donation, we can continue to share our message of hope and the power of connection for those affected by mental illness. You are not alone.”

This donation from Suncoast Credit Union is part of a $550,000 donation to support hunger and mental health organizations throughout Florida who have seen increased needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID-19 has created serious implications in mental health throughout our nation, with research showing significant impact on individuals and relationships. We feel a moral obligation to support the efforts of those who are working to help others,” said Suncoast Credit Union President & CEO Kevin Johnson. “This year has brought real struggles, challenges, and loss for so many, and we are committed to lifting our communities up and providing support for those who need it.”
